WhatsApp Groups API
The WhatsApp Groups API is a Cloud API capability that lets a business create groups from its API number, invite members, generate invite links and manage admins. Meta limits it to Official Business Accounts that pass a review based on messaging volume and quality, so it is not available to most businesses, and group sizes and features are more restricted than app groups.

Why it matters
Group messaging is the most requested and least available WhatsApp API feature. Vendors that advertise "group broadcasting" through the API are either describing app automation that breaks Meta's terms or overstating what the Groups API allows. Knowing the real gate saves a wasted evaluation.
