Lead source
A lead source is the recorded origin of a lead: the channel and, where available, the specific campaign, ad, form, QR code, widget or referral that produced it. It is captured automatically when the origin carries data (ad referrals, form IDs, widget IDs) and set by rule or by hand otherwise, and it powers routing, scoring and attribution reports.

Why it matters
Source is the difference between "we get leads from WhatsApp" and "the Instagram reel ad produced 42 leads at Rs 180 each and 6 bookings". It is also a routing key (portal leads to one team, referrals to the owner) and a scoring input.
In VGraple CRM
Sources are captured from click-to-WhatsApp ad referrals (with ad and campaign IDs), Facebook Lead Ads, forms, widgets, QR links with a source parameter, Zapier and the API; the analytics report shows leads, conversations and revenue by source. Source and source channel are separate fields so the medium and the specific origin are both kept.
