An Official Business Account (OBA) is a WhatsApp Business API number that Meta has marked with a green tick because it belongs to a notable, verified business. The tick appears next to the display name, the name shows even to people who have not saved the number, and it signals authenticity to customers.

Why it matters
The green tick is a trust signal, not a technical unlock: it does not raise messaging limits or lower prices. Meta grants it at its discretion based on business verification, a well-established presence (press coverage, a notable brand) and clean policy history. Many legitimate businesses are declined on notability alone, so it is worth applying but not worth waiting for before launching.
