Phone Number ID
A Phone Number ID is the numeric identifier Meta assigns to each WhatsApp Business number registered on the Cloud API. Every send call, webhook event and quality or tier reading is keyed to it rather than to the human-readable phone number, and it stays stable even if the display name changes.

Why it matters
When something breaks, the Phone Number ID is the value support teams and Meta's error messages refer to. Webhooks arrive with the ID, not the number, and a workspace with several numbers routes conversations by it. It is also how a provider's token is scoped: a token with access to one Phone Number ID cannot send from another.

Each connected channel stores its Phone Number ID, WABA ID and display name; the channel settings page shows all three with a copy button for support tickets. Inbox routing, broadcast sender selection and the health monitor all key on the ID, which is why renaming a number never disturbs history.
