Too long? Read this
- A WhatsApp chatbot builder is judged on its node set, its use of buttons, lists and Flows, whether AI can answer from your own content, and how it hands off to people
- Eight tools: VGraple CRM, Wati, Interakt, AiSensy, Gallabox, ManyChat, Landbot, Chatfuel
- The best builders combine deterministic flows for structured tasks with AI for the long tail, and pause when a human joins
- Pricing ranges from included in the plan (VGraple CRM) to add-ons (AiSensy) to contact-based tiers (ManyChat)
Every WhatsApp chatbot builder draws boxes and arrows; the differences show up on the third day, when you need a list message, a WhatsApp Flow form, a condition on a contact field, an AI answer for a question the tree did not anticipate, and a way to hand the conversation to a person without the bot talking over them. This guide compares eight builders on those specifics, with a matrix and a note on who each suits. Figures below were read from each vendor's public pricing page in August 2026 and can change; where a page did not state a number we say so rather than guess. VGraple CRM is our own product and is listed on the same terms as the others.

How the node set changes what you can build
A builder with message, question and condition nodes makes a menu tree. Add a list node and the menu handles ten options instead of three. Add a WhatsApp Flow form and a booking or a lead form is one screen instead of six questions. Add CRM action nodes and the bot writes tags, stages, custom fields and leads as it goes, so the salesperson receives a scored lead rather than a transcript. Add a webhook node with response branching and the bot can look up an order or a balance in your own system and answer with it. Add an AI node grounded in your pages and the bot handles the questions no menu anticipated. Add a handoff node with a takeover pause and the bot knows when to stop. VGraple CRM's 16 node types cover this whole list; the node reference documents each with an example.

Testing and monitoring
Every builder here has a test mode; the useful ones show the handset preview for each node and log every real run against the conversation so you can see the path a customer took. Weekly, read the fallback hits and the handoff reasons: they tell you which branch to add and which knowledge base page is missing. A bot that is not reviewed weekly degrades as the business changes around it.
Cost of running a bot
Bot replies inside the 24-hour window are free at Meta; template steps outside it are billed by category. Builders that meter "bot sessions" or AI credits add a platform cost per conversation; builders that include the bot in the plan do not. For a bot handling 5,000 conversations a month, that difference is the whole platform fee.
What to build first, whichever tool you pick
A first-contact flow with three buttons for the three questions customers ask most, a booking or enquiry capture with a Flow form or a short sequence of questions, a fallback that offers buttons and hands off on the second miss, and a template step for customers who come back after the window closed. That is a day's work in any of these builders; the differences appear when you add AI, CRM actions and multi-channel.
Deterministic flows and AI together
The strongest pattern in 2026 is a flow for structured tasks (booking, order status, document collection) with an AI response node for everything else, grounded in your own pages and FAQs, with escalation rules that send complaints and sensitive topics to a person and a takeover pause so the bot goes quiet when an agent replies. Builders that treat AI as a separate product make this harder; builders where the AI node sits on the same canvas make it natural.
Who should choose what
- A business that wants the builder included and a CRM behind it: VGraple CRM.
- An Instagram-led brand where DMs and comments are the main channel: ManyChat, or VGraple CRM for Instagram plus WhatsApp with a CRM.
- A team already on Wati or Interakt with modest bot needs: their built-in builders.
- A broadcaster on AiSensy willing to pay the add-on: AiSensy's builder.
- Design-led conversational experiences on websites and WhatsApp: Landbot.
- Simple bots with minimal setup: Chatfuel.
- A sales organisation that wants AI agents across voice, web and WhatsApp: Gallabox.
Bot design rules that apply everywhere
Ask with buttons, not open questions. Confirm before acting. Keep messages short. Offer a person in every menu. Pause when a person joins. Log every run. Review the fallback hits weekly; they are the list of what to build next. The no-code chatbot guide walks through a first build and the flow nodes reference lists VGraple CRM's node set.
