- Wati is a capable, well-documented platform; people look elsewhere for add-on pricing, per-user tiers, re-billed message charges and a lighter CRM
- Eight alternatives: VGraple CRM, Interakt, AiSensy, Gallabox, DoubleTick, Zoko, Respond.io, SleekFlow
- The decision usually turns on pricing model and markup, then on whether you need a CRM or just an inbox
- Switching is a number migration or a reconnection through Embedded Signup; templates are resubmitted, contacts exported and imported
Wati is one of the most widely used WhatsApp platforms in India, with a large template of resources, multilingual pages and a mature product. The businesses who look for alternatives are usually not unhappy with the inbox; they are reacting to how the bill grows: per-user tiers, add-ons for automation triggers, AI credits and extra numbers, and message charges re-billed through the platform. This guide compares eight alternatives on exactly those points and explains what a switch involves. Figures below were read from each vendor's public pricing page in August 2026 and can change; where a page did not state a number we say so rather than guess. VGraple CRM is our own product and is listed on the same terms as the others.
What Wati charges, as published
Wati's pricing page lists a Single User entry (Rs 999 one-time plus Rs 999 in credits), then Growth (3 users), Pro (5 users) and Business (5 users with dedicated support), with monthly, quarterly and annual billing and about a quarter off annually. Add-ons are priced by quantity: automation triggers, AI co-pilot credits, a Shopify integration at $4.99 a month, and additional WhatsApp numbers per month. Meta's message charges are re-billed with a link to an external rate card rather than rates on the page.
The eight alternatives
| Alternative | Pricing model | Meta charges | Entry (as published, Aug 2026) | Strongest where |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| VGraple CRM | Flat plans | Billed by Meta directly, no markup | Free; Starter Rs 1,499 | Inbox plus automation plus a real CRM, coexistence, flat cost |
| Interakt | Feature tiers | Re-billed, stated INR rates above Meta's | Free Instagram tier; Growth Rs 2,799 | Instagram plus WhatsApp support; Shopify |
| AiSensy | Unlimited users, credits, add-ons | Re-billed, stated INR rates above Meta's | Credits; chatbot builder Rs 2,500 add-on | Broadcast volume with many agents |
| Gallabox | User and AI-credit tiers | Linked to external docs | Basic Rs 2,999 billed quarterly | AI voice and web agents; many teams |
| DoubleTick | User tiers | See vendor page | See vendor page | Sales-led SMBs on mobile |
| Zoko | Conversations-included tiers | Pass-through | $49.99 | Shopify commerce features |
| Respond.io | Monthly active contacts | Pass-through | $79 | Global multichannel support |
| SleekFlow | Monthly active contacts | Pass-through | $79 yearly | Multichannel sales in Asia |

Comparing on the reasons people switch
Add-on pricing. VGraple CRM, Respond.io and SleekFlow include automation in the plan; AiSensy sells the flow builder and AI as add-ons; Gallabox meters AI by credits. If your bill is mostly add-ons, a flat plan removes the line entirely.
Per-user growth. Flat plans with seat allowances (VGraple CRM: 5 on Starter, 15 on Growth, unlimited on Scale) and AiSensy's unlimited users stop the per-seat climb; Gallabox and Rasayel scale per user.
Re-billed messages. Only tools where Meta bills you directly (VGraple CRM) or that pass through at Meta's card (Zoko, Respond.io, SleekFlow) have no markup. Interakt and AiSensy publish rates above Meta's; Wati links out.
CRM depth. VGraple CRM, Gallabox (Advanced) and Kommo have pipelines, scoring and appointments; Wati, AiSensy and Zoko are inbox and broadcast tools with light CRM; Interakt sells a separate CRM product.
Channels. Interakt, Gallabox, Respond.io, SleekFlow and VGraple CRM bring Instagram and Messenger into the inbox; Zoko treats Instagram as an add-on; AiSensy is WhatsApp-led.
Timing the switch
Move at the start of a quiet week, after the month's broadcasts, with the old account kept alive for seven days. Reconnect the number first thing in the morning, resubmit templates before lunch (most approve within the hour), import contacts in the afternoon, and rebuild the top three flows the next day. The number's quality rating and tier travel with the WhatsApp Business Account, so a clean history stays clean.
Pricing the switch on your own numbers
Take last month's invoice from Wati and split it into the platform tier, the add-ons and the message charges. Put the message count by category next to Meta's published rates (India: marketing Rs 0.8631, utility Rs 0.115) to see what the messages would cost with no markup. Then price the two or three alternatives that fit your feature needs with their own models: a flat plan at your seat and contact counts, a credit pack at the vendor's rate, or a monthly active contact band at your reach. Most businesses find the message line moves more than the platform line, which is why the "who bills Meta" question comes first. The platform fee guide has the worked sheet.
What to keep from Wati
Wati's help centre and blog are good references for WhatsApp policy regardless of which tool you use, and its template wording can be reused on any platform, since templates are Meta objects. Export your contacts with tags and consent, copy your templates, screenshot your flows, and note which automations fired most in the last month; that list is your rebuild plan on the new tool.
What a switch involves
- The number. If your WABA sits in your own Business Portfolio, reconnect it through the new tool's Embedded Signup and the number keeps its quality history. If the vendor holds the WABA, migrate the number to your own portfolio with the two-step PIN first.
- Templates. Stay with the WABA; resubmit only if you created a new WABA. Copy the text from the old tool before cancelling.
- Contacts. Export to CSV with consent columns, import with the source and date preserved.
- Flows. Rebuild; most tools cannot export logic. Screenshot the old flows first.
- Integrations. Rebuild Zaps and webhooks on the new tool's app; keep the old account alive for a week in case something was missed.
- The app. If the owner wants the WhatsApp Business app back, coexistence makes that possible at reconnection.
The Wati comparison page goes row by row against VGraple CRM specifically; the Tech Provider vs BSP guide explains the ownership question underneath.
Whichever alternative you choose, keep Meta's rate card open beside the vendor's pricing page; the gap between the two numbers is the only line on the invoice you can negotiate away by choosing differently.
