When Meta says "You do not have permissions to view this asset", or when a number that used to work shows as disconnected, the cause is nearly always access inside your own Meta business portfolio. Whoever connected the number no longer has the right level of control over the WhatsApp Business Account, or the account has left the portfolio. It is fixed by an admin of that portfolio, after which you reconnect.
Symptom
You might see this in one of two places.
Inside Meta's connection window. You press connect in Settings, then Channels, then WhatsApp. The popup opens, and at the step where you pick your business or WhatsApp account, Meta shows "You do not have permissions to view this asset". The flow does not complete and no channel is created.
On a number that was already connected. Messages from customers stop arriving, nothing you send is delivered, and VGraple CRM shows that the connection was lost. The wording in the app is along the lines of: the WhatsApp Business Account was removed, or this app's access to it was revoked. The channel card offers Reconnect.
In both cases the channel list and all your earlier chats are intact. What has stopped is the live link to Meta.
Why does it happen?
VGraple CRM acts for your WhatsApp Business Account with the permission you gave when you connected. That permission is tied to your Meta business portfolio and to the people in it. If it is withdrawn, or the person who granted it can no longer see the account, Meta stops answering for that account.
On our side, the signature of this is a Graph API response with error 100 and subcode 33, which carries wording like "Object with ID ... does not exist, cannot be loaded due to missing permissions". Meta's error code reference describes error 100 only generically, as a request with unsupported or misspelled parameters, and it does not document subcode 33 for the WhatsApp Business Account. So the plain-language reading below is ours, from what we see when this occurs, and we are not quoting Meta for it.
The usual reasons, in the order we meet them:
- The person who connected lost access. They left the company, were removed from the portfolio, or had their role reduced.
- The WhatsApp Business Account was removed from the portfolio, or moved to a different one, so the portfolio you are looking at no longer holds it.
- The popup is signed in as the wrong Facebook account. The Meta window authenticates as whichever Facebook profile the browser is already using, not as your VGraple CRM login. Owning a portfolio does not help if that browser is signed in to a different personal profile with no role on it.
- The number belongs to another portfolio. If a different business already claims the number, the portfolio you are working from cannot see it.
- Sharing with VGraple CRM was ended. The account was unshared from the partner on the Meta side.
Note
None of these is a payment, a policy or a quality problem. They are all about who may see and manage the account, which is why changing settings in VGraple CRM cannot clear them.
Who decides, and who can fix it?
The decision is made inside your own Meta business portfolio, by the people who have full control of it. As we understand Meta's portfolio model, admins control which people may manage which assets, and you can only give someone access to an asset you have full control of yourself. So the fix is done by an admin of the portfolio, not by VGraple CRM and not by Meta support acting on your behalf.
We are describing the goal rather than a click path, because Meta moves these screens around. The goal is: an admin of the business portfolio gives the person who will connect full control of the WhatsApp Business Account.
Fix
- Find out who owns the portfolio. It is the business whose name appears in Meta's popup when you pick your business. Ask the person who first set up WhatsApp for the company if you do not know.
- Confirm the right Facebook account is signed in. Open facebook.com in the same browser you use for the connection and check which profile is active. If it is not the one with a role on the portfolio, sign out and sign in as the right one.
- Ask a portfolio admin to restore access. Have an admin of the business portfolio give the connecting person full control of the WhatsApp Business Account in Meta Business Suite. If the connecting person is an admin themselves, they only need to check that the account is still listed under the portfolio's WhatsApp accounts.
- If the account is no longer in the portfolio, the admin of the portfolio that now holds it needs to be the one who works with you, because only they can see it.
- Reconnect in VGraple CRM. On the web, open Settings, then Channels, then WhatsApp, find the number and press Reconnect. Sign in with the Facebook account that manages the WhatsApp Business Account, choose the same business and WhatsApp account, and approve every permission Meta asks for.
- If the number moved to another provider, disconnect it there first, then reconnect here.
Use the web app to reconnect.
Tip
Approve every permission in the popup. If you untick one, the connection can complete but a feature later behaves as if access were missing.
What you will see afterwards
Once Meta accepts the permissions, the channel card returns to a connected state, new customer messages arrive again, and sending resumes. Anything Meta separately holds against the account, such as an unverified business or a missing payment method, still applies and is shown on the card in its own words. See Channel health for how to read those, and Meta business verification for the verification side.
If the number runs in coexistence mode, the WhatsApp Business app on your phone kept working throughout, so check it for anything you need to catch up on from the gap.
When reconnecting does not work
If an admin has confirmed the right person has full control and Reconnect still fails, send us what Meta returned. Message us from Support inside VGraple CRM with:
- A screenshot of the error or the channel card.
- The WhatsApp number in full international format.
- The name of your Meta business portfolio.
As a Meta Tech Provider we can read what Meta returns for the account and raise it with Meta if it turns out not to be a permissions matter. We cannot grant access to a portfolio we do not control, and we cannot override a decision made inside it.
Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Error appears at the step where you choose your business | The signed-in Facebook account has no role on that portfolio | Sign in as the portfolio owner or an admin, then retry |
| Error appears for an account you know exists | The account was moved to or claimed by another portfolio | Ask the admin of the holding portfolio to work with you |
| Connection shows lost after a staff change | The person who connected was removed | Have an admin grant the new person full control, then Reconnect |
| Reconnect succeeds but sending still fails | A separate Meta block such as payment method or verification | Read the reason on the channel card; see Channel health |
| Meta says the token is no longer valid | A different problem: the sign-in expired | See Error 190 |
Prevention
Connect with an account that belongs to the business, not to one individual, and keep at least two people with full control of the portfolio. When someone leaves, have an admin move their access to another person before their account is removed. Add the new person first, then remove the old one, so the WhatsApp Business Account is never left without anyone who can manage it. If you run more than one number, Multiple WhatsApp numbers explains how each channel is connected, and Change or add a phone number covers moving a number between accounts.
